Roger MacPherson is a 57 year old ex-services man with over 40 years experience of the Lakeland Fells.
A former staff sargeant in the Parachute Regiment, Roger specialised in training the country's elite troops survival techniques in some of the world's most inhospitable environments. His mountain crafts are second to none, which, when combined with his huge knowledge of the Lake District offers an invaluable resource to Fell-Trekkers.
Married with three grown-up children, Roger and his wife Ann have climbed all 214 Wainwright Fells and all of our treks on many, many occasions.
Roger is also a fully qualified UIAGM Guide, the highest mountaineering qualification available, a REC (Rescue Emergency Care ) Mountain First Aid Trainer, and has been a Duke of Edinburgh Award Project leader for 10 years.
His favourite Treks are the Scafells via Eskdale and Haystacks from Buttermere. He says:
